Amazing Insights from C.S. Lewis

So I have been reading the Silver Chair and I hit a quote that hit me.

"but, first, remember, remember, remember the signs. Say them to yourself when you wake in them morning and when you lie down at night, and when you wake in the middle of the night. And whatever strange things may happen to you, let nothing turn your mind from following the signs. And secondly, I give you a warning. Here on the mountain, the air is clear and your mind is clear; as you drop down into Narnia, the air will thicken. Take great care that it does not confuse your mind. And the signs which you have learned here will not look at all as you expect them to look, when you meet them there. That is why it is so important to know them by heart and pay no attention to appearances. Remember the signs and believe the signs. Nothing else matters. And now, daughter of Eve, farewell --"

I am in sure need of a mountain top experience. It has been a while since I have one. I feel I forgotten the signs and I need to remember them. I guess I should keep reading.

Holiday Coke bottle

So the holiday cokes are back! Last year at this time I was trying to buy as many of the ornament shaped coke bottles I could because I was working at a preschool. It was a quick and easy gift that one year olds could make almost all by themselves. Here is a picture of our finished product. Here are the really simple steps to make this...
1. Drink the coke
2. rinse the bottle
3. add glitter and paint and put the top back on (white paint look really good with colored glitter)
4. Shake (thats where the kids came in) help them if it does completely cover the bottle
5. take tops off and let them dry
6. Write names of whatever on the outside with Sharpe
7. cut a hole in the cap and string ribbon through (wipe paint off top before hand)
8. Enjoy!

Tempera paint works well, not sure how others would work, but we have had ours for a year now and it hasn't pealed off or anything. Anyway, it just reminded me we have to make our ornament for this year. I'm not as creative this year since I'm not working at the preschool. Oh well!

Currently

So I am presently without a job, waiting for word back on a few applications I have put in. Right now I am just trusting that I am at this moment where God has me and not where I have me. So far though, I have been able to help a friend by watching her son, while she went to an interview. If I was not where I was supposed to be then I would not have been able to help her.

Life is interesting right now. At this moment our bathroom is being fixed for the second time this semester. Our light went out and our shower messed up again... and our sink is backed up! So maintenance stopped by this morning and now we have a semi working bathroom again.

We are just trying to trust God in everything right now, it seems like every year about this time we are hit from every side. Last year we were trying to leave for new york and nothing would really go right. Both sides of our family had someone in the hospital, and the church Joe was working at made seeing family a little more difficult because it was so far away. We spent most of Christmas in and out of the hospital visiting my Grandmother, and then the day after she was taken of life support. So things weren't the merriest. Of all times of the year things just seem to fall apart about this time, and this year is no exception. So please pray for us that God would show him self to us as strong and comforting this time of year. We are approaching hopelessness in both of our lives and need to trust he is working all things for good.
